**NEW** Townsville State Development Area

The Queensland Government established the Townsville State Development Area (TSDA) to provide land close to the Townsville Port for industrial development. The Government has declared Townsville to be the new industrial development centre of Queensland.

The TSDA is a 4,900ha parcel of land just south of Townsville and has been designed to assist the Townsville region in achieving its potential as a major minerals processing centre, capturing the value-adding opportunities from the surrounding mining areas and generating significant new investment, economic growth and employment for the region and the State.

The TSDA has excellent proximity to the Port and key transport networks and includes an environmental buffer zone to prevent residential encroachment into the area and air-shed modelling has been established to ensure adequate pollution controls are in place.
