North Queensland gets short shrift from budget  North Queensland is apparently not on the Queensland Government’s radar after the region was given the cold shoulder in the state budget. Despite contributing an estimated $11.6 billion dollars to the Queensland economy the region’s investment and infrastructure priorities have been brushed aside in favour of the south east corner. 06 Jun 2007

Water to lure intrastate migrants  North Queensland’s regional charm and abundant opportunities will be used to attract intrastate migrants at the annual Queensland Country Week Expo from July 6-8. Townsville Enterprise will be joined at the Brisbane Exhibition and Convention Centre by representatives from Thuringowa City, Burdekin Shire, Hinchinbrook Shire, and Charters Towers City Councils. 01 May 2007

Good times keep rolling for North Queensland  North Queensland is in the midst of an economic boom, posting double digit economic growth for the fourth year running. The AECGroup report on the Townsville Regional Economy puts the region’s Gross Regional Product (GRP) for the 05/06 financial year at $11.6 billion. This is a 12.4% increase on the 04/05 figure.
