Metropole Hotel
The Metropole Hotel is the perfect environment for conferences, banquets, intimate or large weddings and cocktail parties, to name a few. Whilst the Metropole Hotel has been totally refurbished it has lost none of its old world charm and still proudly boasts the look of a genuine Queensland pub. At “The Met” we strive to exceed our guests’ expectations by providing great food and fantastic customer service in an environment that is totally unique to Townsville.
Our venue is located at the eastern end of Palmer Street, commonly known locally as “the restaurant precinct”. Our versatile function rooms can be darkened for presentations or opened up to natural light. All rooms boast access to a balcony area which overlooks Ross Creek with city and marina views. The Metropole Hotel is one minute from the CBD and 15 minutes from the airport.
We encourage you and your guests to take full advantage of all the amenities the Metropole Hotel has to offer, including the bistro and alfresco dining area, the private bar area, have a flutter on keno, or have a chat to the locals in the public bar. We also have a comfortable and relaxed gaming room with the latest machines for your enjoyment.
As a special feature, the Metropole Hotel boasts a flat screen in the gentlemen’s facility on the ground floor so your guests won’t miss a minute of their favourite sporting broadcast.
The Metropole Hotel is located in front of Hotel M which has 104 brand new studio apartments. The rooms cater for either single, couple or twin share accommodation which is ideal for your corporate conference delegates.
The Cameron Room
The Cameron room is a square shaped room with natural light available or pull-down blinds for overhead projection purposes. This room has a balcony from the conference area which has views of the water and the marina. This room houses the built-in bar with a state of the art kitchen in the rear. This room also has a flat screen TV and projection screen suspended from the roof with in-house audio with the “Nightlife” entertainment system able to be broadcast to this area. Hand held microphones are also available for use by delegates if required.

The Turnbridge Room
The Turnbridge room is an unusual rectangular shaped room with natural light available or pull-down blinds for overhead projection purposes. This room has a balcony from the conference area which has views of the water and the marina. This room also has a roof mounted pull-down projection screen with a data projector suspended from the roof directly in front of the screen. There is in-house audio available, with the “Nightlife” entertainment system able to be broadcast to this room. Hand held microphones are also available for use by delegates if required.

“The Met” Ballroom
The Met Ballroom is a combination of the Cameron and Turnbridge rooms with no movable walls in place. This large area has natural light available or pull-down blinds for overhead projection purposes. This room has a balcony along the whole length of the conference/function area which has views of the water and the marina. This room houses the built-in bar with a state of the art kitchen situated directly behind the bar. This room also has a flat screen TV, two projection screens suspended from the roof, in-house audio and hand held microphones are available along with the “Nightlife” entertainment system which can be broadcast to the whole area. This room has proved extremely popular with weddings, special events and large dinners.
